Harrisburg
On this very date 27 years ago, our namesake and leader Bill Greenlee spawned the idea of a daily state government newsletter - akin to The Kiplinger Letter (a blog before they were cool) - sharing the latest news, information, and rumors circulating in Pennsylvania politics and beyond. For nearly 20 years Harrisburg: ONLINE featured Bill’s unique brand of political insight and sagely quips - it was truly the birth of a monster.
Even he could have never imagined on February 4, 1993 that ONLINE would have lasted longer than the fax machine and dial-up internet. But here we are, 27 years later, celebrating Bill’s legacy with a Miller Lite in one hand, a Diet Coke in the other, and a pack of Marlboro’s. We know he would have a chuckle at the trivial fact that the four main contributors of ONLINE are younger than the newsletter itself.
This new version is an ode to Bill’s vision with a special mix of the new millennium. We hope you enjoy…
